Inchcape Shipping Services Helps Carriers Meet EU's New Import Requirements
Meet EU's New Import Requirements
Effective January 1, 2011, all carriers of goods entering the EU, Switzerland and Norway, will be obliged to pre-alert Customs authorities of goods arriving or transiting the Union by providing an Advance Cargo Declaration (ACD).
This must be done through the Import Control System (ICS) which is adopted by all EU member states. However, unlike the USA’s Automated Manifest System where the ACD is made through a single portal, those in the EU will have to file the ACD through the individual countries’ Customs authorities, giving this system a unique complexity.
Inchcape Shipping Services is the first shipping agent to offer its customers a first class solution covering all filing requirements throughout the EU including Norway & Switzerland.
In view of the nature of the filing requirements, which have deadlines as short as two hours before arrival, ISS is setting up a central hub manned by experienced ISS personnel. This hub will be operational 24/7 to ensure that we cover our global customers’ needs, when they need it.
