Maritime TV, a subsidiary Internet TV Channel on the TV Worldwide Network announced that it had completed the production of a 75th Anniversary informational video for the Seafarers International Union (SIU) , the largest North American union representing merchant mariners. The video, which highlights the SIU’s rich, distinguished history, leadership role in the maritime industry and renowned training program, was released at the recent 2013 AFL-CIO Quadrennial Convention in Los Angeles. Maritime TV was selected by the SIU to produce and distribute the video via its Internet TV channel database, industry press outlets and other media.

“When I look back on our history, the thing that stands out is progress,” stated Mike Sacco, SIU President. “Today’s mariner is more competent and better-trained than ever. As the industry has evolved, we’ve stayed ahead of the game through training and safety measures that allow the modern seafarer to thrive despite smaller crews, shipboard automation and multi-tasking. The video provides an historical overview of how the SIU has worked to improve benefits for its members and vigorously supported the U.S. flag merchant marine.”

“We are pleased to have been selected by SIU to produce this important video,” commented Dave Gardy, Chairman and CEO of TV Worldwide, Maritime TV’s parent network. “Our goal was to feature the historical accomplishments of the SIU, the excellent training resources SIU offers, and the important role SIU members have played in the development of the U.S. maritime industry over the past 75 years.”
