BP Tops Singapore?s 2013 Bunker Supplier List
Singapore’s Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) has published its top twenty bunker suppliers for 2013, naming BP Singapore number one by volume for the tenth year running year.
BP started in Singapore in 1964. The company’s main business activities there include global oil integrated supply and trading, gas, shipping and marine fuel and lubricants.
Singapore-based Sentek Marine has held on to second place. However Brightoil of Hong Kong has dropped from the list after reaching third place in 2012.
Brightoil has described the 12 months to the end of June 2013 as a "challenging" period for its international trading and bunkering division of Brightoil Petroleum. Last month it suspended some of its operations in Europe it was streamlining its business to focus on Asia.
During the year ended 30 June 2013, Brightoil Group’s total revenue decreased by approximately 20 per cent to HK$55,448.8 million. Among the group business divisions,
International Trading and Bunkering and Marine Transportation (“MT”) businesses were still the major contributors to the group’s financial performance although they faced an extremely challenging market environment due to low market demand and weaker net margin.
