EU NAVFOR reports that the FV TAI YUAN 227 has been released from pirate control. The fishing vessel was hijacked on May 6 of last year approximately 700 nautical miles north east of the Seychelles.

The vessel's owner reports receiving a call from the ships master who said they had been released but he was not sure why. A U.S. warship provided food and water to the crew of 28 (Chinese, Vietnamese, Filipinos, Kenyans and Mozambicans).

EU NAVFOR reports that the release of the FV TAI YUAN is causing some confusion, as just days ago the ship was being used as a pirate mothership.
