Telenor Satellite Services Expands Use of Intelsat Global Satellite Capacity

Intelsat today announced on March 6, 2007 that Telenor Satellite Services expanded a multi-year contract with Intelsat to include transmission services on three different spacecraft in C- and Ku-band.

The capacity is being used for Telenor’s Sealink maritime high-speed data communications solution through its Eik Teleport in Norway.

Through this agreement, Telenor renewed its contract on Intelsat’s 903 and 704 satellites for C-band capacity connectivity in the Atlantic Ocean Region and Indian Ocean Region, respectively, and in addition began using Ku-band capacity on Intelsat’s 907 satellite for North Sea and Atlantic Ocean distribution.

"Intelsat’s global C-band beams and Ku-band spotbeams are well-suited to address the unique and mission-critical needs of the maritime community,” said Tore Morten Olsen, Executive Vice President of Customized Solutions for Telenor Satellite Services. “Telenor's Sealink service is now well positioned to continue to meet existing and future customer demands for network communications at sea.”

Sealink utilizes Intelsat’s flexible geostationary satellite constellation in conjunction with Telenor Satellite Services’ gateways located around the world to provide always-on maritime VSAT services to the shipping and oil and gas industries. With Intelsat’s C- and Ku-band transmissions, Sealink is able to offer a wide range of business and entertainment communications, including crew and passenger telephony; radio contact; Internet access; video conferencing; large-volume data communications; and TV reception.

"The Intelsat-Telenor relationship spans many decades and is representative of the converged market environment we serve," said Stephen Spengler, Senior Vice President, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific Sales. “This is a prime example of our flexible global satellite system’s ability to provide video and data services that meet today’s customer requirements. Through our network, Telenor Satellite Services is able to gain seamless coverage between the Atlantic and Indian Ocean regions for its maritime end-users.”

Telenor Applauds Iridium’s Industry-Leading Network Quality Guarantee

Telenor Satellite Services, a subsidiary of Telenor of Norway (Oslo Stock Exchange: TEL and NASDAQ: TELN), confirmed on March 13, 2007 that it is extending Iridium Satellite’s “Network Quality Guarantee” program to its global distribution network of service providers.

The offer applies to Telenor service providers and customers using Iridium services and who meet the program qualifications developed by Iridium Satellite.

Under the terms of Iridium’s recently announced program, Iridium will work through Telenor to credit up to 100 minutes of airtime and three months of free subscription fees, if the Iridium network fails to complete properly initiated voice calls from customers’ new Iridium handsets.

"We are pleased to have Telenor participate in our Network Quality Guarantee program," said Greg Ewert, executive vice president of Iridium Satellite. "It is only through the strength of our partners' customer service that Iridium is able to truly implement such a powerful program. Telenor is a valued Iridium partner and we appreciate the excellent support the company provides to Iridium customers."

“Telenor Satellite Services is committed to offer reliable, high-quality services to its global network of distribution partners and their customers,” said Anders Kallerud, executive vice president for Channel Sales for Telenor Satellite Services. “Iridium’s Network Quality Guarantee is tangible proof of both Iridium’s and Telenor’s commitment to this high standard of service.”

The Iridium Network Quality Guarantee began in February and is valid for new customers using Iridium handheld satellite phones. If a customer is dissatisfied with the quality of Iridium's network service within the first 90 days of service activation, the customer may submit a claim through their participating Telenor Satellite Services provider. Iridium will work with Telenor to ensure issues are not related to user error or improper usage, and, if possible, will provide assistance to remediate any problems to the customer's satisfaction. If the claim is deemed valid, Iridium will promptly issue the customer credits through Telenor Satellite Services.

Telenor Satellite Services is one of Iridium’s largest global providers in total airtime sales.

Marlink, a leading supplier of integrated satellite communications equipment and network services has opened an expanded regional operations center in Houston, Texas to meet growing demand from it’s maritime and offshore industry customers.

Marlink’s expansion of its Houston center follows closely the opening of business facilities and support centers in Oslo, Dubai, and Singapore in the second half of 2006.
