Oil Tanker Explosion in Guangzhou, China Injures 7

Local government officials in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou have reported an explosion on board an oil tanker there. On Sunday afternoon, the 5,000 ton “Changyun No. 1” suffered an explosion caused by a fire on board the vessel. The ship was anchored at a local shipyard at the time of the incident.



A total of seven people were injured by the explosion and three seriously injured workers were being treated at a local hospital. The other four suffered minor injuries only. The fire was extinguished on the same evening, according to local accounts. The investigation into the cause of the accident continues.
