Panama Canal Congestion

Published Jun 29, 2004 12:01 AM by The Maritime Executive

The ACP said that there has been a 15 percent increase in traffic from last year, along with a lane closure to allow work replacing locomotive tow tracks at the Atlantic Locks. It added that vessels waiting to get through the canal should be back on a normal schedule by the weekend, but the ACP states that there will be further lane outages every month between June and October. ACP says the notice of major outages are given to shipping companies at least six months in advance.
