11 Dead, 5 Missing in Bolivia Shipwreck
Bolivian Authorities state that eleven people are known dead and five are missing after a boat sank on Lake Titicaca in Bolivia on Wednesday due to excessive weight onboard. The vessel was traveling from the Island of Zuruqui to Huatajuata in the region of La Paz, Bolivia.
Most of the passengers were professors returning to the mainland after attending an academic event in Suriqui. According to a naval commander, four passengers were able to hold on to the capsized vessel until rescuers arrived. One of the missing people includes a five year-old girl.
