On Monday or Tuesday, an LR2 tanker was hit by a projectile during a transit of the Strait of Hormuz, injuring 12 seafarers and prompting a medevac response.

The vessel has been identified by India and Oman as the tanker On Peace, a 115,000 dwt LR2 built in 2021. It appears to be the unnamed vessel that was hit on an outbound transit off the Musandam Peninsula on Monday and reported to UKMTO, but India and Oman reported that the attack occurred Tuesday.

It was the 12th likely Iranian attack since last Wednesday, and by far the most impactful for the crew. The Indian government's internal affairs ministry confirmed that 11 of the 12 injured seafarers were Indian nationals, and expressed gratitude to Omani authorities for a prompt medevac to Khasab for treatment.

The Sultanate of Oman's defense ministry confirmed Tuesday that its air force conducted an emergency medevac to airlift 10 injured seafarers from the On Peace after the attack. The video shows that the helicopter was able to use the tanker's ample deck space to land directly on board, allowing medical personnel to evacuate the crewmembers without hoisting. At least two disembarked from the helicopter in stretchers on arrival at the hospital.

"The targeting of commercial shipping, seafarers and civilian infrastructure in the region must end, and navigation and commerce through international waterways must be restored at the earliest," the Indian Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement.

Other vessels reportedly hit since last weekend include Maran Gas Mystras; Gas Vela; Cameroon Prosperity; and Ghana Prosperity. Tracking site Live-AIS has released video footage purporting to show a fire on Cameroon Prosperity after the strike.
