US Coast Guard Approves Terragons's MAG System

MAGS

Published Apr 29, 2015 2:51 PM by The Maritime Executive

Terragon’s Micro Auto Gasification System (MAGS) has received Type Approval from the United States Coast Guard (USCG), who determined that MAGS meets the specifications of 46 CFR 63.25-9 and IMO Resolution MEPC.76(40).  MAGS is a revolutionary appliance for the conversion of shipboard waste and sludge oils into energy, while exceeding air emission regulations from IMO.  Both commercial models, V7 and MV7, have received Type Approval.

MAGS goes beyond the regulations currently set out in IMO and a request to the Marine Environmental Protection Committee (MEPC) for the creation of a new category for such equipment is underway, through Transport Canada.  Terragon hopes to provide ship-owners and operators with a more environmentally sensible and economic solution to the current practices and technologies used today.  The USCG Type Approval is added to the list of already obtained approvals for MAGS, which include ABS, Lloyd’s Register, and ClassNK.
