Intertek Announces New Services at OTC

Intertek (LSE: ITRK), a leading provider of quality solutions to industries worldwide, has announced the launch of new service offerings for customers in the oil and gas industries: functional safety, custom pre-shipment inspections and expanded hazardous areas training, including CompEx. These new services were announced at the Offshore Technology Conference, where Intertek is exhibiting.

The new services offer increased expertise to customers with the goal of optimizing operations, improving safety and quality, mitigating risks and meeting regulatory requirements, while getting products to market as quickly as possible. The offerings round out Intertek’s comprehensive solutions for offshore and land-based oil and gas customers by providing:

•Functional safety: Functional safety solutions reduce systemic risk and optimize system and product performance. Intertek serves global oil and gas, industrial, medical and other industry clients seeking analysis such as Performance Levels (PLs), Safety Integrity Levels (SILs), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and related services.

•Custom pre-shipment inspections: Pre-inspecting equipment, installation, wiring and facilities before other manufacturer audits and inspections take place helps to ensure compliance to end-user specifications. Services include vendor inspections, facility inspections, hazardous locations site support, and equipment certification and installation oversight and confirmations. In addition to customers in the oil and gas industry, these services are also relevant to anyone with equipment going into hazardous locations or potentially explosive atmospheres.

•Expanded hazardous areas training: Intertek will offer courses at its Houston CompEx licensed training center and its Edmonton, Alberta, facility to train industry professionals on hazardous areas competency. Courses include CompEx Ex 01-04 Gas & Vapors (Houston only), CompEx Ex F Foundational and CompEx Ex 12 Application & Design, as well as non CompEx courses such as general hazardous areas competency and ATEX/IECEx/NEC awareness.
