Volvo Penta of the Americas today announced the appointment of Stewart & Stevenson FDDA LLC (FDDA) and Pacific Power Group as new Volvo Penta Authorized Power Centers.

FDDA, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Stewart & Stevenson, is an authorized distributor for major brands of diesel engines for off-highway and on-highway applications, with a strong presence in both the pleasure craft and commercial marine markets. The company has been in business over 50 years and currently has over 250 employees in nine locations throughout Florida. FDDA will provide parts and service support for Volvo Penta marine products from its Miami, Jacksonville and Ft. Pierce locations and will be responsible for direct engine sales throughout Florida and the Bahamas.

Established in 1958, Pacific Power Group is a privately-held company primarily engaged in the sales and service of new and remanufactured engines, marine power solutions, power generation products, commercial trucks and commercial turf equipment. The company currently operates 13 sales, service and parts warehousing facilities in Washington, Oregon, Alaska and Hawaii and provides extended service to eight additional western states. Pacific Power will represent the Volvo Penta marine product lines in Washington, Oregon and Alaska, and will work closely with Coastal Marine to serve the needs of Volvo Penta customers in the Pacific Northwest.

“The appointment of FDDA and Pacific Power Group as Volvo Penta Power Centers is part of our long-term strategy to expand our marine commercial expertise and serve the needs of commercial operators with exceptional products, innovative solutions and unparalleled customer service,” said Marcia Kull, Volvo Penta Vice President of Marine Sales for North America.

John Merrifield, President and CEO of FDDA, commented, “Volvo Penta has a strong reputation as an innovator in the marine marketplace and has been leading the industry with Tier 3 compliance, enabling FDDA to support the market with the changing emissions regulations. The Volvo Penta product line complements our horsepower range, so we can be a full-range marine propulsion provider. It will also open new repowering opportunities for FDDA.”

Bill Mossey, Vice President, Pacific Power Group, said, “Volvo Penta has a tremendous product range with a number of industry-leading products such as IPS, DPx sterndrive and the commercial diesel inboard range that offers industry-leading fuel consumption and durability. In addition, Volvo Penta has a world-class distribution system with parts availability and speed of delivery that are unmatched in the marine industry. The customer reception has been overwhelmingly positive, and we have already exceeded our expectations with order awards for new construction and repower projects in the workboat segment.”
