Transas, a leading ECDIS manufacturer, in conjunction with the United Kingdom Hydrographic Office (UKHO) launched Transas ADMIRALTY Data Service (TADS) in 2008. TADS is based on 100% official ENC data from the UKHO converted in SENC format and optimized for use on Transas ECDIS.

Since its launch, TADS has evolved into a complete set of data services required by mariners for voyage planning and navigation purposes, and today it’s far more than just official ENC data service.  TADS now includes ADMIRALTY digital publications, weather services and ADMIRALTY Information Overlay with T & P Notices to Mariners.  Additionally, Transas provides consultancy services for the mariner which offer a focused & professional way to handle charts & updates.

In order to fully utilize TADS functionality, Transas offers Navi-Planner 4000, a charts and data management application.  This allows for voyage planning and assessment, and can be used either onboard as a ’back of the bridge’ application, or ashore as a management tool.

Transas ADMIRALTY Data Service together with Navi-Planner offers significant benefits for users and was immediately recognized by users as a powerful official data service.

“I am delighted with the continued success of TADS over the last 5 Years which has been achieved by Transas and UKHO working in Partnership together. We rely on our Channel network to go to market with the ADMIRALTY Nautical Products and Services, so continuing our relationship with Transas provides an alternative method of supplying our products and services to the mariner”, - concludes Damian Bowler Head of Sales, Channel and Customer services at the UKHO.

”Without a reliable official chart service, shipping companies would not be able to use its ECDIS onboard to its full potential.  Being committed to the future of digital navigation, we are excited to embark on our journey with the UKHO to drive TADS development even further and bringing more value to our clients by introducing new functionalities”, - comments Martin Hagberg, TADS Product Manager, Transas Marine.
