PROMAR has ordered two Platform Supply Vessels from Damen Shipyards Group and this ambitious Swiss company is looking to further expand the offshore fleet under its management in the next five years. The first Damen PSV 3300 will be delivered in February 2015 and the second, in August of the same year.

Commenting on why the company chose a Damen vessel, Olivier Meynis de Paulin, Chartering Supervisor says: “The PSV 3300 is at the forefront of technology in terms of equipment, being modern and reliable. These ships are built in line with North Sea standards.”

PROMAR expects to employ the two vessels in the West African market. “West Africa is well-known to us. We have been chartering in this region since 2002 when we were established.

“Bringing the standards of the PSV 3300 to African countries will certainly be a valuable competitive edge. In addition, the design and the level of comfort proposed by these vessels are definitely an important advantage.”

He continues: “Damen is a prominent player in the shipbuilding industry with a reputation for delivering high quality, reliable, cost-effective vessels. This reputation was endorsed by our project managers, which naturally led to this partnership. The high standards and the dedicated commercial approach of Damen have been extremely satisfying.”

Mr Meynis de Paulin outlines the company’s ambitions, adding: “We are aiming to enlarge our fleet in the coming five years, bearing in mind that PROMAR’s first priority is to offer its charterers high quality vessels. Our tailor-made, commercial approach will enable us to expand in a way where we can respond to real market demand.”

“The PROMAR PSV 3300 is being tailored to meet or even exceed our charterers’ expectations,” he stresses.

Several specifications are being added such as Fire-Fighting Ship 1, ROV preparations, oil spill detection radar and a tank heating system.

Andrea Trevisan, Damen Sales Manager Sales Area North, West and South Europe, says: “We are delighted to welcome PROMAR as a valued new Damen customer, it is really exciting that a Swiss manager will be the first company to take this innovative vessel into the West African oil and gas market. This is a truly remarkable and courageous approach by PROMAR management, which we are very enthusiastic to support. It has been a real pleasure and constructive experience working on this project. We envisage that this will be the beginning of a long-term business cooperation, where quality is a strong focus for both companies.

“In addition to several innovative, technical features the PSV 3300 design ensures reliability and good seakeeping behavior, which reduces downtime - crucial in the offshore market. Crews and engineers from the oil majors want to work on such a vessel, they know it is safe, with a high level of comfort,” he emphasizes.
