Harris Pye Accepts Corporate RINA Membership

Published Apr 10, 2013 11:10 AM by The Maritime Executive

Harris Pye executives were delighted this month when they were invited to become corporate partners of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA).  Corporate partnership is only offered to companies which have clearly demonstrated high professional standards within the international maritime industry.

Indeed, RINA’s policy states that: “Membership of the Institution identifies member’s employees as amongst the most able in the international maritime industry.”

“We are thrilled to accept RINA corporate membership,” says Harris Pye Group Technical Director, Chris David.  “It’s an honour to have been invited, and we feel that it clearly demonstrates that not only is our Naval Architecture team of the highest quality, but also that as a company, we are committed to supporting them in training and development.  Naturally this will help ensure that we are always at the forefront when it comes to naval architecture capabilities.”

Harris Pye’s naval architecture team has grown by 75% in just five years, and even now, is still actively recruiting.  “We deal with everything from the design and virtual testing of pipework and ballast water treatment systems to designing accommodation modules for rigs and FPSOs,” says Bolaji Bamowo, Manager of the team.  “Company turnover has risen by over 50% in three years, so it stands to reason that the architectural team has had to keep pace and expand too.”

The team uses the latest equipment and software to create 3D virtual walkthrough videos.  “We use thirteen different software suites to ensure that we can offer our clients the very best design service,” says Bamowo.  “For example, for pipe thermal stress analysis we use Caesar II; whereas for 3D laser scan cloud data processing and modelling we use CloudWord and Cyclone.”

“I myself have been a member of RINA for over five years, and am naturally very pleased indeed that the whole company has been offered corporate membership.  To my mind it shows that my team is of the highest quality.”
