Visitors to the International WorkBoat Show in New Orleans from 30 November to 2 December can discover how to achieve space savings while simplifying the installation of piping systems by visiting the Victaulic stand, booth 3309.
Following a successful showing at the Europort maritime fair in Rotterdam earlier this month, Victaulic, the world’s leading manufacturer of mechanical pipe-joining systems, is again exhibiting its line of IACS approved products for the shipbuilding industry. On display will be a selection of rigid and flexible couplings, elbows, tees, branch outlets, flange adapters and valves for a variety of shipboard applications.
Compared to flanges, use of couplings in conjunction with a grooved piping system in valve assemblies can reduce weight by as much as 30 per cent. In addition, couplings reduce the time needed for piping system installation and the space needed for assembly, which allows for easier access and maintenance. Couplings offer a flame-free installation, improving safety in shipyards and aboard ships especially when work needs to be done in confined spaces. Victaulic couplings have been independently tested and demonstrated to reduce noise and vibration far more effectively than traditional flexible connectors.
Products on display include the installation-ready Style 177 QuickVic Flexible Coupling. With no loose parts and no requirement to disassemble before installation, this high-performance coupling installs in half the time it takes to install other couplings, giving users a competitive edge that is unmatched in the industry.
Also on display is Vic-Press, an innovative press-to-connect system that joins small-diameter stainless steel Schedule 10S pipe in seconds.
For larger-diameter pipe joining, the Victaulic Style W77 Advanced Groove System (AGS) coupling is the only flexible coupling on the market that offers a two-piece housing for 14-60″ piping systems. With a deeper groove for strong joints and a wider gasket for superior sealing, the Style W77 offers exceptional assembly speed, strength and reliability.
The Series 761 Vic-300 MasterSeal™ Butterfly Valve - rated to 300 psi - offers improved flow and a better seal, as well as a longer life expectancy than most conventional valves. The unique design of the offset disc and two-piece stem increases flow and reduces operating torque up to 35 per cent, and provides a 360-degree bubble-tight seal.
Victaulic is world-recognized for its pipe-joining solutions in a variety of industries. “During our 85-year history and with over 35 years of successful installations in the maritime market, the Victaulic technology has stood the test of time in some of the most challenging and critical applications the world over,” says David Gibbons, Divisional Manager, Maritime, at Victaulic. “It has proved itself as a reliable, efficient and sustainable solution that makes a real improvement to the bottom line. People visiting Booth 3309 at the WorkBoat Show will find out how Victaulic can make a difference in their next shipbuilding project, whether new construction, retrofit or repair.”
