WATCH: Elusive Oarfish Caught on Camera

During a recent Shedd Adventures trip to Baja, California, kayaking participants witnessed not one, but two rare oarfish in shallow waters. Here's a video of one of their encounters.

You may also remember last October when a snorkeler near Catalina Island in California discovered a rare, giant oarfish carcass. Read more on that here.

Although the larger species are considered game fish and are fished commercially to a minor extent, oarfish are rarely caught alive.
