Implemented MLC Celebrates First Anniversary

As the U.S. celebrates Labor Day this weekend, Dr. John A.C. Cartner discusses the significance of the first anniversary of the ‘entry into force’ of the Maritime Labour Convention 2006 as port states continue to ratify it.

Dr. Cartner wrote a chapter in the recently released book, ‘Maritime Labour Convention 2006: International Labour Law Redefined’, edited by Jennifer Lavelle and based on his contribution to the book, he discusses how implementation of the Maritime Labour Convention is manifesting itself worldwide and what it means for the industry from the employer, labor and port state perspectives.
