Greenpeace Wants CSL Vessel Recalled

Published Mar 17, 2005 12:01 AM by The Maritime Executive

The Canadian government has been accused of allowing the former CSL ship to be sent to India. The government said that it did everything proper in examining the ship before it left Montreal. The ship has been renamed to "Michalakis" and is believed to now be flying a Mongolian flag.

Greenpeace and the Basel Action Network have sent a letter to Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin demanding that the ship be returned to Montreal. The letter also accuses the Canadian government of not notifying India that the ship was contaminated.

CSL is currently controlled by the Prime Minister Martin's sons.
