FMC Commissioner William P. Doyle

On Monday evening, June 17, 2013, Commissioner William P. Doyle of the Federal Maritime Commission delivered the keynote address to the American Association of Exporters and Importers at their 92nd Annual Conference and Expo, Globalization: Policy and Practice, in Washington, D.C.  Commissioner Doyle presented a series of detailed examples highlighting some of the Obama Administration's policies and programs related to infrastructure, and he provided an analysis of some of the port infrastructure projects on the East, Gulf, and West Coasts.  Additionally, the Commissioner provided a general overview of the current state of shipping with respect to the overcapacity and freight rates in international container shipping.  The Commissioner also briefly addressed the FMC's relationship with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and he noted the FMC's current Advanced Notice of Proposed Rulemaking concerning Ocean Transportation Intermediaries.  The Commissioner's speech can be found at the following link:   http://www.fmc.gov/assets/1/News/FinalAAEISpeech.pdf
