Mastervolt Introduces Wireless Monitoring

Published Sep 24, 2014 2:34 PM by The Maritime Executive

Mastervolt, the global leader in marine electrical systems and technologies, today announced that its innovative CZone™ digital switching technology is now accessible from smartphones and tablets via an easy-to-use wireless interface. Mastervolt will be exhibiting the CZone Wireless Interface at booth #1533 at the International Boatbuilders’ Exhibition and Conference (IBEX), in Tampa, Fla., Sept. 30-Oct. 2.

The CZone technology simplifies how a boat owner interacts with the boat’s electrical systems, providing the boater full control of onboard circuits at the touch of a finger. The new CZone Wireless Interface acts as a hub between Mastervolt’s CZone and MasterBus networks and local Wifi devices onboard, providing users with full control of their electrical systems with just a few taps.

“The new Wifi Interface takes your everyday tablet device and interfaces it with CZone and MasterBus for ultimate control at your fingertips. The wireless system brings convenience, and the exact same functionality as the original ‘wired’ system – it’s ‘one-touch’ to go daytime boating, one touch to turn on the appropriate lighting and devices for evening cruising, and one touch to shut down and much more,” said Warren Wright, Digital Switching Technology Product Manager. “With clear, easy-to-read graphics, boaters will love the simplicity and convenience of controlling all of the onboard circuits right from their tablets and smartphones.”

The CZone Wireless Interface also integrates control and monitoring of power products, including battery chargers and inverters. Users can monitor AC and DC power as well as batteries. The system can be used to monitor tank levels and receive visible and audible alarms.

The CZone Interface is Wifi based; no cellular network is necessary to access it. The home page is fully customizable to display “favorites” – circuits that the user wants to monitor frequently.  Up to three devices may be connected simultaneously.

The interface features two CAN channels, bridging two separate CAN networks. An ethernet connection can be used to connect other local area networks (LANs).  There is a USB connection for data recording and for initial system configuration.
