The Corporation of Lower St. Lawrence Pilots plays a key role in the safety of maritime transportation on the St. Lawrence River between Les Escoumins and Qu?bec City, as well as on the Saguenay River. Being the first to board a ship as it enters Canadian waters, and the last to leave it when it exits them, their role is not only important for the safety of navigation on the river and respect for Canadian navigation, but it is particular since they are fully acquainted with the dangers and the challenges in this majestic river, including its shoals, currents, extreme cold and ice conditions.
