SOCP to Host Meeting and Anti-Piracy Training Demonstration in November

Joint MARAD/SOCP Anti-Piracy Training and Technology Demonstration

November 1st, 2011

Baltimore Harbor, Maryland

The Ship Operations Cooperative Program (SOCP) cordially invites maritime industry representatives to attend our joint MARAD/SOCP Anti-Piracy Training and Technology demonstration to be held at 399 East Cromwell Street, Baltimore, MD 21230 on November 1st, 2011.

The goals of this event are:

  • Conduct a training and technology demonstration utilizing counter-piracy tactics and non-lethal devices.
  • Provide the opportunity for the U.S. shipping industry, labor and government agencies to observe and evaluate the available technology and services available to reduce the risks associated with piracy.

All maritime industry and labor representatives are invited to attend. Attendees will be responsible for providing:

  • Their own travel to and from the event.
  • Event Registration
  • Liability Waiver Form
  • US Government issued Photo ID to enter the CAPE WASHINGTON pier security gate
  • All attendees must register to attend this event using this link: ‘Registration SOCP Event’.

The Maritime Administration has invited US Government Officials to be in attendance for this event.

Attendees for the event will be capped at 200 people to promote a safe and secure event. Attendees will NOT be permitted onboard the ship.

Parking for this event will be in the parking lot adjacent to Wal-Mart (Sam's Club) at 2701 Port Covington Dr, Baltimore, MD 21230. SOCP will provide transportation between the ship pier and the parking lot.

This is a “Rain or Shine” event. It is not anticipated that rain or high winds will change the activities or scheduling.

 

November 2-3, 2011 at MITAGS, Linthicum, Maryland

The Ship Operations Cooperative Program (SOCP) cordially invites maritime industry representatives to attend and participate in our November meeting to be held at Maritime Institute of Technology and Graduate Studies (MITAGS) in Linthicum, MD on November 2nd and 3rd.

Delegates and ranking officers of US Maritime Administration and Department of Transportation have been invited to address this meeting. In addition, senior representatives from Federal and State Government and the commercial industry will present a comprehensive discussion on the impact of regulatory changes in the areas of safety, environment and training in the US maritime industry. The agenda includes presentations and panel discussions on broad range of topics, such as, Vessel Security, Mariner Safety, North American ECA, Vessel Response Plans, Work Force Development and STCW issues.

Pertinent and timely issues will be addressed via Panel Discussions entitled as follows:

“10 Years After 9/11, What have we accomplished, and what more needs to be done?”
“Anti-Piracy and Terrorism, An International Perspective”
“Hijacked! What Next?”
