Disney cruise ship the Disney Magic rescued 18 Algerians stranded in the Mediterranean Sea on Friday.

The 2,400-passenger vessel joined the search for the Algerians while sailing from Gibraltar to Barcelona. The Algerians reportedly had been stranded on the open water for four to five days.

Crew on the cruise ship heard crew members from rescue vessels in the area reporting sighting the stranded vessel and then losing sight of it.

The Disney Magic responded immediately, finding a small boat that had lost power. It was reported that the 18 Algerians were brought aboard and given food and cabins.
