Ocean Signal introduces its new rescueME MOB1 for the first time at Seawork International this year as the latest product in its range of devices integral to the safety of crew in the commercial environment. The communication and safety at sea specialist will present the world’s smallest AIS MOB device with integrated DSC, in addition to SafeSea products the S100 SART, V100 VHF and E100G EPIRB.

The award-winning rescueME MOB1 forms part of the Ocean Signal product portfolio developed to meet the needs of all commercial shipping, offshore industries and fishing sectors and designed to operate in the harshest marine conditions.

Integrating easily into even the most compact life jackets, the rescueME MOB1 will provide commercial workers and crew with the reassurance that they can be located quickly and recovered in the event of a man overboard situation.

Once the rescueME MOB1 is activated, AIS (Automatic Identification System) transmissions will provide accurate position information on the vessel’s chart plotter. The plotter will show a red circle plus longitude, latitude, and distance and bearing to the person in distress. In addition, the DSC VHF alarm will also be triggered. The integrated strobe light with moulded lens ensures the survivor can be seen easily in poor light conditions.

At 30% smaller than other similar products, the lightweight and easy-to-use rescueME MOB1 measures just 134mm (height) by 38mm (width) by 27mm (depth) and weighs 90g. Operating within a temperature range of -20°C and +55°C, the Ocean Signal device has a comprehensive self-test facility and features a seven-year battery life.

The rugged and fully waterproof SafeSea V100 VHF exceeds the requirements of IMO, SOLAS and GMDSS and is the ideal choice for mandatory and voluntary carriage.

With ergonomic design, durable laser etched keypad, high contrast backlit LCD and backlit keys, the radio is supplied with all the 21 international simplex channels required. A highly efficient transmitter helps to maximise the battery life.

The SafeSea S100 SART is designed to assist in the rescue and recovery of the crew in liferafts and survival craft and transmits a series of pulses which provide a bearing. A dedicated radar transponder which complies with IMO SOLAS regulations, the S100 SART has a user replaceable battery which is classified as non-hazardous for shipment and gives 96 hours operation in standby. It is waterproof to a depth of 10 metres and operates between -20°C to +55°C.

Used to alert search and rescue services in the event of an emergency at sea, the SafeSea E100G EPIRB has the longest quoted operational battery life in the industry with enough capacity to operate the EPIRB continuously, typically for four whole days (96 hours), even using the E100G with GPS fix. Certified for use on-board all European and US-registered vessels, the SafeSea E100G is a Cospas–Sarsat EPIRB operating in the 406MHz satellite band.
