618 passengers, including 41 children, are stranded after a SuperFerry ship ran aground on an island in Coron, Palawan and tilted slightly on its side. The ship was just a few meters away from the port.

Personnel from passenger vessel SuperFerry 1 called for help after the ship ran aground in Ditaytayan Island. It was traveling from Puerto Princesa City bound for Coron.

The Philippine Coast Guard has deployed three vessels to rescue the stranded passengers. Updates from the Coast Guard District claim that all passengers and crew onboard are safe, the boat is stable and has settled on a reef. Officials are onboard directing and assisting in passenger transfer to two privately-owned vessels.

There is no suspicion of any oil leaks or slicks. The boat remained intact and did not sustain any holes.
