No Stowaways Found at Port Everglades
Update & Correction On Tuesday, The Maritime Executive reported that Border Patrol and law enforcement officers were combing a ship from Honduras at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, FL looking for a group of stowaways. Agents from the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, along with Broward sheriff's deputies and the Coast Guard, were involved in the search and setup a perimeter around the area. We were incorrect in saying that the ship, the ELBE CARRIER, was owned by Crowley Marine Services, it is in fact not. The Elb Carrier is a chartered vessel with liner service provided by Crowley Liner Services. Update: Officials did not find any unauthorized people on the vessel and the Elb Carrier has left Port Everglades for Central America. Photo courtesy of CBS
