FRSQ 700 HYBRID Fast Rescue Boat

Published Jan 7, 2011 9:30 AM by The Maritime Executive

Due to the worldwide demand in the marine industry for more environmentally friendly equipment onboard vessels and offshore units, Fast RSQ has taken the initiative to design the first aluminium fast rescue craft with HYBRID propulsion mode.
The FRSQ 700 HYBRID has been designed for those end users who feel the responsibility for a greener environment in which they operate. The environmentally friendly FRSQ 700 HYBRID marks a new chapter in the history of fast rescue craft for the marine and offshore industry.
This aluminium FRC not only assures zero emission at low speed maneuvering at sea or in harbours, but it also guarantees noiseless drive. The zero emission electric drive mode allows a speed of approximately 6 knots using solely electric water jet propulsion and can be switched to the combustion engine with an easy turn of the ignition key. With the inboard diesel engine the FRSQ 700 HYBRID will reach speeds up to 34 knots.

Hull & Structure
The hull is strengthened by a system of longitudinal bulkheads and transversal stiffeners and on the outside of the hull there are four spray rails, two on each side of the keel.
In total the FRSQ 700 HYBRID has seven (7) water tight and pressure tested compartments. The void compartments are not filled with foam, to make this fast rescue boat more environmentally friendly and the hull fully recyclable. Contrary to other designs in the market the keel is longer in the direction of the bow which gives the bow a so called ‘X-Bow’ effect, to create optimum maneuvering stability at various speeds and weather/sea conditions.
The hull, console and spray hood are made of seawater resistant aluminium grade 5083 H11 (AIMg 4.5) in various thicknesses between 5 and 20 mm to give the boat maximum strength, combined with a lightweight design.

Additionally the FRSQ 700 HYBRID is equipped with a state of the art aluminium self righting frame, which provides the crew an even better grip and all round view during operations at sea.

Protective fender
The foam fender is made of high standard polyethylene material. This foam fender is covered by a heavy duty hypalon cover. Fenders will get damaged through the years due to heavy impacts. Therefore, a low maintenance fender has been engineered. This fender is made of five separate blocks that can easily be removed by one man, even when in use offshore.
