BISSO MARINE ACHIEVES 0.494 TRIR IN 2009
BISSO MARINE, a premier provider of energy and maritime support services, achieved a safety milestone in 2009 by recording a 0.494 TRIR.
The 0.494 safety benchmark improved significantly compared with 2008, when BISSO MARINE posted a 1.17 Total Recordable Incident Rate. That marks a 58 percent reduction in the company’s TRIR this year. The safety gains occurred at the same time the company increased total man hours worked by 4.5 percent.
Since 1999, BISSO MARINE has reduced its TRIR by 92 percent.
“A 0.494 TRIR is a significant accomplishment for BISSO MARINE in that it reflects our dedicated effort to constantly raise the safety standards in all company positions,” said President and CEO W.A. “Beau” Bisso IV.
The TRIR is reported annually to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. The incident rate is the number of recordable injuries and illnesses occurring among a given number of full-time workers (usually 100) over a given period of time (usually one year.)
