Following a successful Type Approval renewal process by DNV-GL, U.K based Marine Software Ltd is pleased to announce that Marine Planned Maintenance for Windows ('MPMWin') continues to comply with DNV-GL requirements for Type Approval of Planned Maintenance Systems as described in TA Program 10-706.70-1, April 2009.

The MPMWin software product has now been awarded Type Approval Certificate No. TAPMS000000A valid to June 2021.

To save on survey costs outside of the 5 year Continuous Machinery Survey (CMS) cycle, a shipowner\operator can alternatively elect to implement the survey system (PMS) for eligible survey items provided the scheme has been approved by class prior to being implemented.

A vessel complying with the requirements will then be assigned the PMS survey notation.

Benefits of implementing a PMS survey scheme include:

Reduced surveyor inspection visits - The number of items required to be opened up for class survey is reduced and eligible items can be credited based on examinations by the chief engineer without the presence of a class surveyor.

Improved planning and flexibility - Machinery is examined according to approved schedules and frequencies (manufacturer's guidance, documented operator experience and condition monitoring) thus allowing a flexible regime that is not dependent upon the CMS docking cycle.

Reduced survey and inspection duplication - Inspection is driven by the planned maintenance system and not by class next due dates. Therefore there is a reduction in the duplication of inspection/survey work that an item of machinery might incur.
