TradeWinds Offshore Marine: May 24, 2011

Published May 16, 2011 1:50 PM by The Maritime Executive

Strong support for inaugural TradeWinds Offshore Marine conference reflects rising market.

TradeWinds Offshore Marine conference is set to play to a full house at the Grand Hotel Oslo on the 24 May. With the theme Catching the Rising Market, the event recognises the pivotal role offshore shipping now plays in the Norwegian maritime sector. Breaking with the traditional conference format, the event features an innovative Brokers’ Panel comprising Norway’s leading offshore shipping brokers who will offer comments on a market outlook paper delivered by shipping’s economics guru, Dr. Martin Stopford, Managing Director of Clarkson Research.

Jon Chaplin, managing director of NHST Events, commented “Never before has such a public discussion among Norway’s major offshore brokers taken place. This event is primarily about being ready for the massive opportunities presented by the current market – for shipowners, brokers, builders, capital providers and investors.”

The Brazilian century has well and truly started and the nation’s offshore sector has continued as a bright beacon of activity, even during the darkest days of the previous market crash. Many international and domestic shipowners have benefitted from employment in the region but, as state-owned oil giant Petrobras pushes ahead with unprecedented investments, its maritime needs are so far beyond the nation’s shipbuilding sector. Brazil is firmly on the conference agenda with, among others, presentations from Vinicius S Figueiredo and Roberta Ramos of BNDES (Brazilian Development Bank) detailing the financial support available.

Delegates from both maritime and offshore energy sectors have already registered to hear from the following leading speakers and panelists:
