Smith Berger Provides Stainless Steel Chocks for T-AKE Class Vessels
Smith Berger Marine, Inc. recently delivered Stainless Steel Chocks to the Military Sealift Command for installation on the T-AKE Dry Cargo Carriers AMELIA EARHART and the LEWIS AND CLARK. The Smith Berger Stainless Steel Chocks have highly polished contact surfaces and are designed for use with the ever increasing list of synthetic mooring and towing lines in service today. The Stainless Steel Chocks for T-AKE are replacing the existing four roller fairleads which were not providing enough protection against chafing of the mooring lines. Having no moving parts, no maintenance requirements and better performance protecting the mooring lines, the Stainless Steel Chocks are proving to be an ideal tool for mooring and towing all types of vessels.
In May, Smith Berger kept busy by delivering a shipset of Double Sheave Fairleads, Deck Sheaves and Fleeting Sheaves for the Oceaneering International new build dive boat, a set of tow pins for the Harvey Gulf Ocean Towing Vessel WARHORSE III and a 200 Ton Shark Jaws for the Harvey Gulf Ocean Towing Vessel LIGHTNING.
With over 100 years of manufacturing in the Pacific Northwest, Smith Berger’s principle activities include the design and manufacture of all types of mooring and towing equipment as well as providing salmon butchering machinery for the canning industry.
