Respected salvage master Captain Nick Sloane has joined Fort Lauderdale, Florida-based salvors Resolve Marine Group as the firm’s new director.

Captain Sloane has more than thirty years of experience as a salvage master and project manager, with a deep portfolio of past operations around the globe, from fire and flooding response to rig operations and pipelaying. He is a member of Lloyd's Panel of Special Casualty Representatives, and is perhaps best known for his role – alongside the late Capt. Rich Habib – as senior salvage master for the raising of the Costa Concordia, the most expensive and complex salvage operation in history. His other high-profile projects include the AD-19, Tasman Spirit, Jolly Rubino, Ikan Tanda, Treasure, Sealand Express, CP Valour, and the Kota Kado.

“Nick is a force in the industry and now that Resolve has a worldwide footprint, he is a natural fit,” said Joe Farrell, president and CEO of Resolve. “Resolve’s greatest asset is its people and we pride ourselves on that. Nick Sloane brings professionalism, innovation, and a stellar work ethic that never compromises his values – that’s exactly how we manage ourselves at Resolve.”

Resolve has a presence in London, Cork, Singapore, Mumbai, Shanghai, and both coasts of North America, for salvage, marine engineering, naval architecture and safety training services. The firm recently opened an operations center in Gibraltar through the buyout of two local operators, which will expand its reach in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

Among the firm's most recent projects are the salvage of the Los Llanitos, a bulker grounded near Manzanillo, Mexico during Hurricane Patricia. Resolve is acting as a subcontractor of Tsavliris in the effort. The firm also recently finished the salvage and scuttling of the Amadeo I, a ro/ro which grounded and partially sank near Punta Arenas, Chile.
