Lourdes M. Oineda-Garcia Named Vice President & Controller at Carnival Cruise Lines
Lourdes M. Pineda-Garcia, a 12-year veteran of the cruise industry, has been named vice president and controller at Miami-based Carnival Cruise Lines, the world’s largest cruise operator. Pineda-Garcia has been the acting controller for Carnival Cruise Lines since mid-January.
In her new role, Pineda-Garcia is responsible for directing the activities of a number of the company’s financial and accounting functions including general ledger, fixed assets, financial reporting and disbursements.
“Lourdes’ extensive experience in both accounting operations and financial management make her a welcome addition and valued member of the Carnival team,” said Anne Bramman, Carnival Cruise Lines’ senior vice president and chief financial officer.
Prior to joining Carnival, Pineda-Garcia served as chief financial officer for Seabourn and also worked in a variety of accounting capacities for Cunard, including operations controller. Both Seabourn and Cunard are sister companies to Carnival Cruise Lines and all are part of the Carnival Corporation portfolio of cruise brands.
A certified public accountant, Pineda-Garcia began her financial career with Coopers & Lybrand LLP, an international accounting firm.
Pineda-Garcia earned both her bachelor and master of accounting degrees from Florida International University. She is a resident of Davie, Florida.
Carnival is “The World’s Most Popular Cruise Line®,” with 22 “Fun Ships” operating three- to 16-day voyages to The Bahamas, Caribbean, Mexican Riviera, Alaska, Hawaii, Panama Canal, Canada, New England, Bermuda, Europe, the Pacific Islands and New Zealand.
The line currently has two new 130,000-ton ships on order – Carnival Magic, set to debut in Europe May 1, 2011, and Carnival Breeze, scheduled to enter service in spring 2012.
