Gibbs & Cox Appoints New Vice President of Engineering

Gibbs & Cox, Inc., one of the worlds’s leading independent naval architecture and marine engineering firms, today announced the appointment of Warren Lundblad as Vice President of Engineering. In this role, Mr. Lundblad will manage and support all areas of platform and systems engineering across the Gibbs & Cox portfolio.

“Warren brings extensive technical and program management experience to his new role leading Gibbs & Cox’s Engineering Services Group,” said Chief Executive Rick Biben. “His deep understanding of the U.S. Navy’s challenges and requirements will be critical as Gibbs & Cox continues to support programs for our Navy customers, as well as collaboration with key industry partners.”

Prior to joining Gibbs & Cox, Mr. Lundblad served 25 years in the U.S. Navy. Over his military career, he held positions in program management, engineering, strategic planning, budgeting and financial management, in addition to significant waterfront shipbuilding contract management experience.

Most recently, as Director of NAVSEA’s Supervisors of Shipbuilding, he led contract oversight efforts for all Navy shipbuilding. From 2003 to 2006, Captain Lundblad served as Program Manager’s Representative at the Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Gulf Coast. In that position he provided oversight of the design and construction of two $2 billion amphibious assault ships (LHD 8 and LHA 6). Before that, he served in the Navy’s Program Executive Office-Ships as the Technical Director for in-service ships, where he developed and implemented solutions to engineering and technical issues for over 200 ships. He began his naval career in 1985, initially serving as Fire Control Officer, Damage Control Assistant and First Lieutenant on USS LEWIS B PULLER.

Mr. Lundblad earned his Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from North Dakota State University, a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School, and an MBA from Virginia Tech. He is a certified Navy Acquisition Professional and a licensed professional engineer.
