An investigation is underway into the cause of a boiler explosion onboard a cargo ship in Nanjing, eastern China. The Zijinshan shipyard reports that four workers were killed in the accident and another twelve were severely injured.

The explosion occurred late Friday night on a bulk carrier at the previously mentioned shipyard of Nanjing Tanker Corp. The ship was about ready to be delivered to China Changjiang National Shipping (Group) Corp. after repair.

Two of the twelve shipyard workers who were admitted to the hospital have been discharged with slight injuries. The rest are still receiving emergency medical treatment.
