Bremen-based RWO GmbH - Marine Water Technology, a subsidiary of Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies, is a leading supplier of systems for treating water and wastewater on board ships and offshore platforms. RWO has been a reliable partner of the maritime industry for more than 30 years, and has once again for the promising branch of ballast water treatment plants booked an important order.

The Technical Inspection of the noted Hamburg shipping company Peter Döhle Schiffahrts-KG has, in coordination with the associated Hammonia Shipping Company GmbH & Co. KG, made an intensive evaluation of the ballast water treatment systems technologies and products available on the market and in the end decided for the CleanBallast plant of RWO in Bremen. By mid-2013 the plants, with a capacity of 500 m³/h, will be installed on four 4,800-TEU container ships to be built by the shipyard of Jiangsu Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Company Ltd. in China.

RWO currently has a total of more than 50 orders for CleanBallast plants on its books. Since their market launch the RWO ballast water treatment plants have mainly been put into operation in China, where the composition of the Yangtze River water is one of the greatest challenges of all for such plants.

The RWO CleanBallast plants, which currently can treat ballast water of up to 3,750 m³/h, are among the most sought-after worldwide due to their extremely low energy consumption, their simple plant conception and their user-friendliness.
