MarEx Mailbag:
This week’s Mailbag contains but one letter and it references an online book review written by MarEx Senior Copy Editor Jack O’Connell. You can’t pull the wool over the eyes of a MarEx reader!
Last week, we published an online Book Review. You can read that review, referencing the new title, “So Terrible a Storm,” by Curt Brown, by clicking HERE. Or, you can read what one of our readers had to say about it below:
In Jack O'Connell's Oct. 8 review he writes, "So Terrible a Storm” makes you taste and smell the waves and salt air." Since the book is about Lake Superior, I doubt it describes salt air.
MarEx Editor’s Remarks: Boy, you can’t get anything by Richard Thomas. His remarks correctly note that the Great Lakes are indeed comprised of fresh water. For the record, and as a small boy, I spent a summer on Lake Superior in a little town called Two Harbors, just north of Duluth, MN. I got my first boat ride there and can distinctly remember the salt spray on my lips as we sped across the lake. Or, maybe it was the Fritos corn chips that I was eating. In any event, Jack’s Book Review was a good one and his descriptive phraseology made me want to read the book. Fair enough. Good job, Jack. And, to Mr. Thomas, you have a keen eye. Thanks for reading and writing.
