Lisa Wieland Named Port Director of Massport
The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) Board voted last week to promote Lisa Wieland from Acting Port Director to Port Director. Throughout her career with Massport, Wieland has consistently demonstrated a strong sense of leadership and commitment to fulfilling the agency’s mission.
“With a number of key projects happening around the Port of Boston, Lisa’s organization and determined leadership have played a major role in making the cruise and cargo operations successful, as well as other Maritime properties,” said Massport CEO Tom Glynn. “Lisa has been adept in cultivating these values during her time at Massport and I know that she will continue her excellent work in Maritime as she steps into this more permanent position.”
Most recently, under Wieland’s leadership, Conley Container Terminal broke cargo volume record numbers in 2015. This further demonstrates the value that the Port of Boston has for the regional economy.
Wieland has served as the Acting Port Director since March of 2015 and previously as Maritime’s Chief Administrative Officer. As Port Director, she oversees planning, development, marketing, operation, security, financial management, administration and maintenance of all of Massport’s non-aviation properties. Before joining the Maritime team, Wieland served in several roles at Massport, including the Director of HR Strategy & Employment and the Director of Corporate Planning and Analysis. Wieland has been with Massport since 2006.
Prior to her employment with Massport, Wieland worked as a consultant for Bain & Company serving health care and consumer products clients, and for CNN in various news and political assignments. She received her B.A. from UCLA in Political Science, and her M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School.
