Titanics Tender Vessel to Undergo Restoration for 3.25 million
The tender vessel of the RMS Titanic, SS Nomadic, has been awarded a £3.25m grant for an extensive restoration project, the Heritage Lottery fund announced.
The project, funded by the lottery, is meant to offer a glimpse into Belfast and Wolff docks in 1911, the time of the Titanic. Plans are to return the Nomadic to its original condition utilizing as many retained parts of the construction as possible. It is currently undergoing work at the Hamilton Dock in Belfast’s Titanic Quarter.
The interior of the Nomadic will outline the hierarchy of travel during the early 1900’s, showcasing the disparate conditions provided to passengers between first, second, and third class. Nomadic’s lower deck will holster an education and learning sector, a museum, and also host lecture series and exhibitions for schools and community groups.

The Social Development Minister, Nelson Causland, has pledged a contribution of up to £1m stating that he believes the project will attract travellers to Northern Ireland and the Titanic Quarter by offering a richly historical attraction.
The SS Nomadic was used to transport passengers to the Titanic at Cherbourg ahead of the devastating voyage in 1912. Since the sinking of the Titanic, the Nomadic has served as a floating restaurant in Paris beside the Eiffel Tower.
