PortMiami Webcam filmed the P&O cruise ship Oriana returning to port a few hours after departure on April 18 after a suspected engineroom fire. The vessel was escorted by two tugs.

PTZtv reports unconfirmed VHF radio traffic from the U.S. Coast Guard and has suggested there had been some incident at sea, possibly an engineroom fire.

Any damage appears to be minor, as the vessel has departed Miami again to continue a 32-night Caribbean and U.S. cruise.

Oriana entered service in 1995. The 260m vessel can carry 1,928 passengers and 794 crew members. It is powered by four MAN B&W diesel engines and has a service speed of 24 knots.

Cruiseshipfires.com lists 49 cruise ship fire incidents since 1963 including, most recently, the engineroom fire on Fred Olsen Cruise Lines’ Boudicca on January 25, 2015.

The PortMiami Webcam is a 24/7 live streaming Internet video broadcast produced by PTZtv in association with Sling Broadband.
