The New Maritime Paradigm
U.S. Environmental Regulation of the Maritime Industry
Maritime TV Web Cast and Live Event Hosted by the Environmental Law Institute and K&L Gates
Since 2008, the scope and extent of U.S. environmental regulation of the maritime industry has changed and expanded substantially. Air, water, and waste concerns have resulted in substantial new regulatory requirements and continued reassessment of those requirements by the U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
This complimentary event will give participants the opportunity to learn about the new regulatory requirements, as well as both legislative and regulatory proposals that will shape environmental obligations of the maritime industry into the future. Our presenters will provide an overview of:
* Air: New Emission Control Areas designed to reduce SO2 and NOx; the regulation of Green House Gases
* Water: Vessel General Permit; Ballast Water Proposals
* Waste: RCRA/CERCLA; TSCA - ship scrapping
