American Salvage Association (ASA) Announces New Leaders for 2009-2011
Washington, DC: Mauricio Garrido, Vice President, Salvage and Emergency Response for Bisso Marine Co., Inc. (Houston, TX), has been elected President of the American Salvage Association (ASA) at its recent meeting in Arlington, VA, October 5, 2009. Tim Beaver, Chief Executive Officer of Global Diving & Salvage, Inc. (Seattle, WA), has been elected ASA’s Vice President. Paul Hankins, Vice President for Operations, Donjon Marine (Alexandria, VA), has been elected Secretary/Treasurer.
“The new leadership team will endeavor to energize the ASA’s approach to the diverse fronts tackled by the association,” said Mauricio Garrido.
In addition, David Devilbiss, Alaska Regional Manager for Global Diving & Salvage; Dan Schwall, Managing Director for Titan Salvage; Bob Umbdenstock, Vice President for Client Services for Resolve Marine Group; and Captain Jack Ringelberg, President, JMS Naval Architects & Salvage Engineers, were elected to ASA’s Executive Committee.
“ASA owes great thanks to John A. Witte, Jr., Executive Vice President of Donjon Marine Co., Inc., who led us as President since 2007. John’s guidance and counsel served ASA and our entire industry well over his term in office,” Garrido continued.
“This year, ASA will remain focused on the OPA 90 salvage and marine firefighting regulations, the ongoing Quality Partnership with the U.S. Coast Guard, as well as the strengthening of our industry’s commitment to salving life, the environment and property,” Garrido said.
The American Salvage Association is a trade association promoting professionalism and improving marine casualty response in American coastal and inland waters.
