State University of New York (SUNY) Maritime College’s annual Admiral’s Scholarship Dinner will be held on Tuesday, May 7th, 2013, on the College’s Throggs Neck, Bronx, New York, campus. The event will begin with a cocktail reception at 5:30 pm, followed by the awards dinner and auction at 7 pm, in Vander Clute Hall.
During the Admiral’s Scholarship Dinner, SUNY Maritime College will honor two corporate giants of the maritime industry: Navios Maritime Holdings, based in Piraeus, Greece, and Wärtsilä, headquartered in Helsinki, Finland, with US offices in Houston, TX . The College will also salute alumnus, Edward Pfleging, P.E., ’86, Vice President, Engineering and Facilities, Montefiore Medical Center. The Montefiore Medical Center Engineering and Facilities Division will also be recognized.
Jim Lawrence, Chairman of Marine Money will be the Emcee for the evening. Under his direction, Marine Money publishes the magazine Marine Money and the organization also hosts the industry’s most important ship finance forums and offers consulting services to ship-owners and providers of capital in vessel financing transactions.
Proceeds from the dinner will benefit the SUNY Maritime College Scholarship Fund. As one of only six state maritime colleges in the United States, Maritime College is a vital educational force in training and preparing thousands of young people for leadership careers in the maritime industry.

Tickets are $400 per person. Tables of 10 begin at $4,000. Sponsorship and underwriting opportunities are also available for the event as well as for the journal. For many years, his late father, Edward Pfleging, was the Vice President, Facilities & Real Estate at SUNY Maritime College, as well as Emeritus Professor of Marine Engineering and Chief Engineer of TS Empire State IV and TS Empire State V.
The Engineering and Facilities Division of Montefiore Medical Center is comprised of over 1,500 associated licensed engineers who are responsible for the daily operations and facilities development of hospital and ambulatory sites. Montefiore Medical Center is the University Hospital for Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
