Eleven (11) are dead and four (4) are missing after a passenger ferry sunk in the Minjiang River in east China’s Fujian province.

The ferry reportedly fell victim to inclement weather and sank on Wednesday in the Xiadao district.

A search-and-rescue operation is still ongoing for the missing passengers. Local reports state that an initial investigation into the accident conducted by authorities confirmed that bad weather was the cause of the sinking.

This is the second fatal marine incident this week due to bad weather in eastern China.
