79 Dead After Indian Ferry Sinks
Officials say at least 79 Muslim pilgrims are dead after their overloaded ferry sunk in eastern India, Tuesday. Rescuers are having trouble recovering all the bodies in the fast-flowing river and many bodies are believed to have washed several miles down river. The ferry, which sank after hitting a sandbank in rough water, had the capacity of 60 passengers, was carrying an estimated 220 passengers. Nearby fisherman pulled several passengers out of the water immediately following the accident, fifty people remain missing.
