Donjon President and CEO J. Arnold Witte Joins Board of Noble Maritime Collection
Donjon Marine, Co., Inc., a global marine services provider based in New Jersey, announced today that President and CEO J. Arnold Witte has joined the Board of Trustees of the Noble Maritime Collection, a museum and study center located in a former dormitory at the famous retirement home for mariners, Sailors' Snug Harbor in Staten Island, NY. The museum celebrates the people and traditions of the working waterfront.
Mr. Witte was named to the Board, along with Shelagh E. Mahoney, President of the Eastern Salt Company, and Captain Timothy J. Ferrie, a 30-year member and full branch pilot of the United New Jersey Sandy Hook Pilots Association. The announcement was made by James J. Devine, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Noble Maritime Collection and President of New York Container Terminal.
In addition to leading Donjon, Mr. Witte is a two-time president of the International Salvage Union, a member of the ISU’s Executive Committee, and a past president of the American Salvage Association. He began his career in 1963 as an admiralty lawyer, and left the practice in 1967 to form Donjon.
Awarded the International Maritime Hall of Fame Award in 2003 for his lifetime contributions to the maritime community, Mr. Witte is a former member of the U.S. National Research Council’s Committee on Marine Salvage Issues and is currently Chairman of the Board of Directors of the American Club, a P&I insurer holding full membership in the International Group of Protection and Indemnity Insurers.
