The MV OMSKY-122 strayed into North Korean waters during a storm after leaving the South Korean port of Pusan. The Russian government went into high gear to have the ship released.
The North Korean coast guard held the vessel in anchorage near Cape Musudan, while diplomatic negotiations proceeded. The director general of Amur Shipping said they were greatly concerned when the company did not hear from the crew for more than a day and their fate was unknown.
The MS OMSKY-122 was transporting heavy equipment when it strayed into an area that is known to be a North Korean missile test range. The vessel was released after all issues related to the incident were settled through diplomatic channels.
