Discovery Channel to Air Dramatization of the Maersk Alabama Attempted Hijacking
Show to feature interviews with ship's officers from MEBA & MM&P
The Discovery Channel will be airing a dramatization of the “Maersk Alabama” attempted hijacking. The program will be shown on Sunday, June 21, 2009 at 10:00 PM.
This special was filmed with the cooperation of the M.E.B.A. and includes interviews with several M.E.B.A. members who served aboard the ALABAMA. In addition, segments of the show were filmed at the Calhoon M.E.B.A. Engineering School and in Norfolk aboard the M.E.B.A.-crewed Keystone vessel CAPE RISE.
Beyond this, the Maritime Institute of technology & Graduate Studies (MITAGS) and the Masters, Mates & Pilots union will be referenced in the documentary. Interviews with MM&P members were filmed at MITAGS.
