The Landing School, a post-secondary institution focused on educating tomorrow's marine industry professionals, is pleased to announce Landing School student and Antique and Classic Boat Society (ACBS) Scholarship winner, Zachary Yaroschuk, has been selected to speak at the ACBS annual meeting.
This year, ACBS's 38th Annual Meeting and International Boat Show will be held in Coeur d'Alene, ID, September 17-23. The event will feature discussions about the previous year's accomplishments and next year's goals as well as plenty of time for cruising the lake, viewing many classic and antique boats and participating in a scholarship auction, at which Zachary Yaroschuk will speak.
Yaroschuk hails from New Jersey and first recalls hearing about The Landing School from a roommate who shared a love of sailing and a desire to attend the school. In Yaroschuk's words, "The reason I feel so strongly about The Landing School is that it links my passion, environment and experiences together. My passion in art and design, my environment is the coast and my experiences are everything I loved about growing up next to the water. Together they have shaped who I am and what I want out of life. A career as a boat designer and builder offers everything I could ask for and more in a lifelong pursuit."
Yaroschuk is currently enrolled in the Wooden Boat Building, Small Boats program at The Landing School. He received his scholarship from ACBS upon his acceptance to the school. After he completes the Small Boats program in June, he intends to return to the school to complete the Yacht Design program and achieve an Associate's of Applied Science Degree in Marine Industry Technology. From there, his goal is to attain a Bachelor's of Engineering Degree in Yacht and Small Craft Design from Southampton Solent University (United Kingdom). He'll pursue this degree through an educational partnership program that allows Landing School Yacht Design graduates to attend Southampton Solent's program and achieve a Bachelor's degree in three years.
"We are so pleased that Zachary has accepted the opportunity to speak at ACBS's annual meeting," stated Bob DeColfmacker, President of The Landing School. "Zach is a student who clearly has a passion for all things boating and I have no doubt that he will represent the school in fine fashion and will illustrate just how important and how appreciated the ACBS scholarship is. Without scholarships like the one that ACBS provides, many of our students would not be able to attain their educational goals so we are truly grateful to the members of ACBS who donate to this cause so generously."
